Pride and Prejudice

I recently watched both versions of Pride and Prejudice
and am one of those people who enjoys both.
That is not the case with many. For me, it comes down to
Mr. Darcy and whether it be Colin Firth or Matthew MacFadyen,
I can happily watch either one and be easily swept up in the moment.
Such a great story!

Which version do you prefer?

  1. It has to be Colin Firth for me, that moment when his and Lizzies eye's meet, not to mention the wet shirt scene, so sexy, ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh
and I have met Colin in real life....Well I brushed past him in the Groucho Club, swoon.

  2. I felt that swoon! I think my heart skipped a beat too!

  3. I'm with Dash - the Keira Knightley version is probably more faithful to the era as far as fashion and style go but I'll take Lizzie with her carmen rollered hair and perfectly steam ironed dresses any day & overlook the flaws in the stylist's judgement for the sake of the chemistry in the BBC version! Susie x

  4. Dear Jeanne,

I would go nuts if we did not have access to the BBC dramas, even if we receive them years after there release. I personally cannot get enough.
Thank you for this little gem of a post.

    Warmest regards,

  5. Well, Jeanne, I'm with you, I like both of them. I didn't expect to like the new one, but I did. I didn't expect to like another Darcy besides Colin. But there was that scene where Matthew has that little "catch" in his voice as he is speaking very emotionally, and that was the turning point for me. The point where I could entertain the possibility of another Darcy.

  6. Jeanne,
I've seen them all. Colin makes a fine Darcy & I have enjoyed them all. I find the Joe Klein version with Keira & Matthew to be quite beautiful. The unsung element for me is the Score. That Soundtrack is heavenly. The length of the latest one is also much more manageable for me. The mini series seem to drag a bit.
